Christiana Hayward-Kourabas studied Law at the LSE having worked for Gouldens prior to university. After leaving university in 1983, Christiana worked for a number of London Law firms, mainly dealing with Crown Court preparation and covering police station call outs and currently is a consultant Solicitor for CM Solicitors.
She also trained as a TEFL teacher, working for the British Council teaching Legal English and Business English and as an examiner for the University of Cambridge examinations. Christiana has also worked at Southwark College teaching GCSE, A Level Law; Business Law and EFL, during this time she returned to the LSE to gain her LLM specialising in Intellectual Property, Company Law and EU Law.
Christiana is most well-known for specialising in fraud, restraint and confiscation proceedings after spending 5 years specialising in these areas until she qualified in 1999. However, Christiana’s experience doesn’t stop there as she has also been instructed on a number of very high profile murder and drugs cases both in the Crown Court and in the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division).
Christiana works all over the country and is currently working on cases as far afield as Newcastle; Bristol, Exeter, Manchester and Birmingham.
Christiana is currently working on numerous cases in the Crown Court (many cases involving drugs and violence); Court of Appeal (Criminal Division); POCA 2002 matters in the Crown Court including full hearings, s23 applications and appeals to the Court of Appeal mostly relating to benefit figures.
Her memberships include the Female Fraud Forum; the Fraud Lawyers’ Association; Proceeds of Crime Lawyers’ Association; the British Academy of Forensic Sciences and the London Criminal Courts Solicitors Association.
In addition to the above Christiana holds a National Powerboat (level 2) RIB certificate. She is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and has volunteered with Blue Ventures in Madagascar and Belize.
